The Power of Pink – Spring 2017’s Must-Haves
The fashion elite have spoken! Pink is spring 2017’s big colour, and with it comes a wave of new fashion and style must-haves.
We’ve put together our five pink essentials for the new season, sure to keep you on top of the trends. Best of all, pink is one of the most flattering colours for our skin, so you are sure to look fab.
Top Tip: With over 50 shades of pink, a general rule of thumb is darker skin tones match with vibrant and bolder shades for contract, whilst lighter or neutral skin are better suited with warm and cool pink shades.
- Oblong neck scarves
More fashion accessory than practical wind-shield, oblong neck scarves are an excellent way to compliment any plain tops with a lengthy splash of contrast and colour. When worn in a triangle plunge (see above), they add verticality and can be worn in place of a necklace.
Our pick: Signature Pink Silk Oblong by Tory Burch https://www.toryburch.co.uk/signature-print-silk-oblong/33715.html
- Lip scrubs
The new wave of lip scrubs popping up in beauty shops across the country do two things: they exfoliate, moisturise and heal our chapped lips like you’d expect, but can also be used as an everyday alternative to lipstick. The bolder pink colours available are dramatic and vivid, and are an effortless way to add contrast to a natural look.
Our pick: Strawberry Bombshell lip scrub from Lush https://uk.lush.com/products/lips/strawberry-bombshell
- Metallic eye shadows and blushes
As seen on every runway this past Fashion Week, shimmering pink eye shadow and blushes splashed liberally across the eye area and above the cheekbones is a strong 80s-glam look (see above). Paired with a retro outfit (think crop top and denims), the dazzle here is enough on its own without needing too much makeup beyond foundation, meaning you can give the rest of your face a bit of a rest!
Our pick: Pink Dazzleshadow by MAC Cosmetics http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13840/35752/products/makeup/eyes/shadow/dazzleshadow
- Parka coats
The parka is back! Light yet practical, with a faux-fur trim for added softness, these coats are perfect for the briskness of the British spring… And British summer too, who are we kidding! A neutral pink shade is all but guaranteed to go with everything in your wardrobe, so is one of our must-haves.
Our pick: Erika Smart Parka Coat from Phase Eight http://www.phase-eight.com/pws/ProductDetails.ice?UniqueProductKey=950329311#
It may be cold, but that’s not a reason not to be keeping fit. We even wrote an at-home exercise guide so there’s no excuse! But if we have to brave the weather, we may as well look good doing it. Breathable running shoes are finally catching up to mainstream fashion trend-wise, with a sleek new wave of trainers hitting stores this season utilising gorgeous pink shades and style-ready materials.
Our pick: Lacoste Joggeur Premium Leather Trainers In Pink via ASOS http://www.asos.com/lacoste/lacoste-joggeur-premium-leather-trainers-in-pink/prd/7572950
